Dual-band airborne SATCOM terminals for global connectivity
Seamlessly roam across Ku and Ka-band networks to enable worldwide broadband for on-the-move airborne operations
Seamlessly roam across Ku and Ka-band networks to enable worldwide broadband for on-the-move airborne operations
Flexible and reliable connectivity is critical for military & government aircraft. That’s why Viasat offers dual-band airborne terminals, ensuring that pilots, passengers, and warfighters can communicate throughout the mission. As a private sector innovator, Viasat developed dual-band terminals to allow aircraft to roam across Ku-band and Ka-band networks for assured, global connectivity.
At 45,000 feet, it is critical for aircraft to have connectivity. Viasat’s dual-band terminals continuously navigates between Ku- and Ka-band networks, delivering an industry leading SATCOM experience.
Our second-generation Ku/Ka-band terminal’s flexible architecture allows for operating over multiple networks and third-party modems. Enabling access across the full ITU Ka-band spectrum, the GAT-5530 multi-band, multi-network, multi-orbital terminal delivers the fastest data speeds while supporting multiple aircraft sensors.
The GAT-5530 terminal features the following details:
Our most recent dual-band solution is comprised of two independent 12 in. parabolic antennas, one operating over Ku-band and the other over Ka-band, to create a low SWaP dual-band solution. Perfect for an aircraft with an existing Ku terminal that is looking to amplify its connectivity or for a smaller aircraft requiring seamless connectivity across dual networks.
Our dual-band antenna solution features the following details:
When Viasat’s network is paired with one of our dual-band terminals, small and large aircraft can remain connected around the globe. Not only does Viasat deliver the fastest speeds to communicate mission-critical data, but they enable revolutionary operational capabilities for airborne platforms.
For regional or global missions, pilots and passengers stay prepared with fast, reliable, and secure performance for any operation with the world's highest capacity network. With a Viasat terminal and our high-capacity satellites, warfighters and operators can stay connected across the globe and throughout their mission.
